Strange story. I was having a pee the other evening. At home, nowhere weird. My wife had lit some candles in the bathroom, you know for general ambience (it’s nice, you should try it). I observed one of the candles. Not in a scientific way, I just watched the candle. What did my observations tell me? Ah, well that is the point of this little missive.Roald Dahl once said “I began to realize how important it was to be an enthusiast in life. He taught me that if you are interested in something, no matter what it is, go at it at full speed ahead. Embrace it with both arms, hug it, love it and above all become passionate about it. Lukewarm is no good. Hot is no good either. White hot and passionate is the only thing to be.” (Sorry, I’m 99% sure that I’ve used that quote before but hey, it’s a good one). What on Earth has this got to do with me peeing? Nothing. What has it got to do with candles? I’m coming to that.I’m working on not being so busy. Living with agency. Saying a big yes to things I want to do and a strong no to things I don’t. Anyway, that’s the how. What about the why? Why does a flower bloom? Why does a bird sing? Why does a candle burn?Because that’s their reason. My little humble candle burns as brightly as it can. No matter what. Whenever it’s lit, it burns its little heart out.So, cheesy philosophical ending. Be more candle and find your reason to burn.*picture credit to Fred W Schmale
